I finished building my new gaming PC this afternoon (AMD processor, NVIDIA GPU, 32 GB RAM, 2 SSDs for storage). So far I’ve finished the OS install (Windows – this is the only Windows machine I keep, since it’s still better for gaming), and I’m working on installing some games. I’ll post more on it at a later date, after I’ve had a chance to use it some more (ie, break it in).

I ended up spending a lot of time cleaning/tidying up today. It’s interesting how that process simultaneously can feel a little counterproductive (“I’m not getting anything done”), and yet is very satisfying to finish. I think it has something to do with the visualization once the work is complete. Much of what I do is software/computer related, so it’s harder to see the differences I make in the real world from time to time. Clean up has easily visible outcomes. 🙂

Early and short post today. I’m intentionally spending most of my day away from chat/social media/computers, other than the time required to do a complete reinstall of Windows on my gaming PC (ie, nuke & pave). I dealt with crashes and random memory issues all day yesterday (even though RAM fully tests out), and at this point, I’d rather start with fresh install to troubleshoot than my 4-5 year old install… Wish me luck!

I realized earlier today why I have an aversion to Zoom meetings on weekday evenings (for non-work purposes). After sitting in front of my computer for 10-12 hours (working from home), I’m actually a bit burned out on computer screens… Which surprised me slightly. I consider myself a geek, and rarely get tired of tech. But apparently I do have a limit…

Anyhow. That thought brought to you as I wrap out a Zoom meeting.

Today’s post is once again a short one. I’ve been busy with work projects most of the day, and I’ve got some more to work on this evening.

Good morning Fosstodon, and happy #ScreenshotSunday ! I’ve been following this trend for a while, but never posted my own. So, here it is! 🙂

A few notes:

  • The wallpaper is not a picture of me
  • But yes, I do play the saxophone
  • This is my primary home desktop, a dual monitor setup. At some point I’ll get around to posting a pic from some of the others.

It’s April 15, which normally corresponds to Spring planting weather here in Central Illinois. Instead, this morning I woke up to… 30 degrees and snow. 😬
