I should note: what I’m looking for in an optimal Linux distro for this laptop is one that is relatively easy to use, and has the ability to install recent software releases easily if desired. I like Arch, and continue to use it with KDE on my main desktop. However, I don’t use my laptop as much, nor do I want to have to troubleshoot things if a new software release breaks expected behavior, if I can help it. I want to just grab it and go 🤷‍♂️

My Fedora install lasted all of a few hours. Didn’t like it. This morning, I’ve installed two different operating systems already. OpenSUSE looked promising, but the default install didn’t get my mouse/keyboard to work right under X. I don’t feel like troubleshooting, so… now I’m playing with a stock Ubuntu installation. So far, working pretty well. I’m normally a KDE fan, but I’ll give Gnome a go for a bit at least. 😃

I had some free time this weekend, so what did I do? Being me, I opted to move one of my laptops from Arch to Fedora, to see what the user experience is like.

I ran across an interesting project today due to an interview on a podcast I listen to: https://aiwriter.app/. My description of it won’t at all do it justice… suffice to say that you should check it out, and it gives you an idea of some of the current capabilities of AI.

Today was a day that very little got accomplished. I’m not sure why… I was in a bit of a funk part of the day. I wonder if I didn’t get enough sleep or something. I did finish Brave New World though… still deciding my final thoughts on it.

And I think that’s the end of today’s post. I’m going to strive to ensure tomorrow goes better.

It’s already 10:10 PM as I start this blog post. Which means that it is well past my normal blogging time. Today ended up being a fairly busy day, between work and small group at church. This is my first time really sitting down much at all, and therefore I don’t have many thoughts. So, until tomorrow…

I spent most of this afternoon and evening preparing for a presentation I’m giving tomorrow. I should have spent more time over the course of the previous week preparing for this, but… I didn’t. So now I’m finally nearing the end, and it’s time for bed.

One of these days I’ll learn to start things ahead of time!
