Choose Your VPN Wisely

One of the podcasts I listen to daily brought up a recent news article about several Hong Kong based VPNs that were found to expose private user data, even though they claimed that they didn’t.

Frankly, stories like this don’t surprise me anymore. As the saying goes, if you aren’t paying for the product, then you are the product (in most cases). “Free” is often too good to be true. Choose wisely!

Short post tonight. I spent most of the afternoon and evening gaming online with friends that I hadn’t talked to in years. Had quite a bit of fun.

Now, it’s time to get around for the work week!

Bison Biltong

Yesterday, I got a delivery of bison snacks, including some Bison Biltong, with Southwest Verde flavoring. And let me tell you, it is delicious!

For those that don’t know, biltong is a form of dried, cured meat that originated in Southern African countries. Think of it as a jerky-type food.

I’ve been considering buying some bison-based snacks for a while, as I’ve heard good things about them, and they’re very high protein, low carb, low/moderate fat, which would work well for me when I need something healthy to munch on after a workout.

For the first time in over four months, I went out with a few friends to eat at a local restaurant. I had a good time, although it was a tad weird. I’m still not sure how I feel about social events, given everything from the past few months. I’m cautiously open to them, though I sometimes feel more of an urge to wear a mask than others my age, I think.

Anyhow. Today was a long day, and now it’s time for bed.

One of these days, Lord willing, I will master self-control. However, today is apparently not that day. Without thinking, I overate by an order of magnitude more than I wanted to. A few days ago, I checked my phone after waking up, and promptly read the news for 45 minutes instead of doing my normal routine.

Why is it so easy to slip up? I don’t have a good answer for that. I’m still trying to understand it myself.

Politics Politics Politics

Today has been another long day, and I don’t have a lot to talk about personally.

However, I would like to take this time to recommend a political podcast that I listen to: Politics Politics Politics (Px3) by Justin Robert Young (JRY).

Why listen to a political podcast? I like to keep up with what’s going on in the US politically, along with some commentary, but I don’t particularly care for either major side’s opinions. JRY is good at covering the important topics with interesting commentary, and doesn’t take any overly extreme positions on most topics.

Long Tuesday

2020-07-14 1 min read

Today was another day where, for some reason that I don’t fully understand, I woke up an hour earlier than I intended to and was unable to fall back asleep. That, combined with doing a slightly harder workout than normal this morning, has left me tired.

Which means, that’s the end of today’s post!

Well, almost. Parting thought: I’ve been quite enjoying Cal Newport’s new podcast (I’m almost up to date with the latest episode). Check it out!
